One Health Data Management and Analysis

N. N.

Research on the links between human, animal and environmental health, including long-term sample collection, yields a wide variety of data. The Data Management and Analysis (DMA) core unit enables the integration, analysis and storage of these comprehensive data sets through an efficient data management and analysis system.

Our Research

In research on human, animal and environmental health at HIOH, and especially in the context of One Health Surveillance, a multitude of data is collected and processed over decades, from nucleic acid sequences to epidemiological field data to environmental and climate data. Following the interdisciplinary One Health concept, it is essential to integrate these disparate data types and combine them into one big whole. To enable optimal use of this extraordinary resource, HIOH has the DMA core unit, a streamlined and efficient data management and analysis system, at its disposal. The DMA ensures that samples, associated metadata, and other site-relevant data are readily and permanently accessible to researchers within the institute and later to the entire scientific community. A key task of the DMA is to build and maintain local databases for samples and data and to link them to existing databases. In the long term, the DMA will expand the reach of these resources by building a publicly accessible One Health database. The DMA works in compliance with strict data protection protocols for handling sensitive data.

The appointment process for the head of the DMA core unit is currently ongoing.
