About
In 2024, I completed my bachelor's degree in biology at the University of Greifswald. During this time, I discovered my passion for zoology and genetics, particularly through my collaboration with the Museum of Natural History in Berlin. In my bachelor's thesis, I used morphological and evolutionary genetic methods to investigate the distribution and phylogenetic relationships of freshwater snails.
Today, I am conducting research at HIOH as part of my master's thesis in the Biodiversity, Ecology and Evolution program on the evolution of the classical swine fever virus. A particular challenge in my work is the severe degradation of the genetic material, which is due to the advanced age of the historical samples. This makes it all the more fascinating for me that even from this impaired genetic material, insights into the evolutionary history of pathogens can still be gained.
