Dr. Léonce Kouadio

About

My name is Léonce Kouadio, and I am an Assistant Lecturer in Animal Biology at Peleforo Gon Coulibaly University in Korhogo, Côte d’Ivoire. I obtained my PhD in Biology, specializing in virology, from Humboldt University of Berlin in 2020. My doctoral research focused on the epidemiology and ecology of hantaviruses and arenaviruses in Côte d’Ivoire.

My research interests include zoonotic diseases, emerging infectious diseases, viral ecology, and the One Health approach. I am an Associate Researcher and the Côte d’Ivoire focal point at the Helmholtz Institute for One Health in Germany. I am also an Associate Researcher at the Swiss Centre for Scientific Research in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

In addition to my research activities, I supervise PhD and Master’s students in Côte d’Ivoire, supporting their research projects and academic development. I also manage the ZOOSURSY and GATECEP projects, contributing to the coordination and implementation of research activities. My work focuses on understanding zoonotic pathogens, particularly those circulating in wildlife, and assessing their potential implications for public health.

Through my teaching, research, student supervision, and project management activities, I aim to strengthen scientific knowledge and promote collaboration between human, animal, and environmental health sectors. I am very pleased to be part of this team and look forward to contributing to our collaborative research activities.
