Allice Braga

About

Allice Braga is a Guest Scientist in the Evolutionary Community Ecology group, led by PD Dr. Jan Frederik Gogarten. During her PhD internship at HIOH, she focuses on advancing her expertise in metabarcoding. She will work with specific wet-lab techniques, alongside the computational bioinformatics pipelines required to analyze complex genomic datasets.

Allice is a veterinarian who earned her Master's degree in Animal Health from the Instituto de Pesquisas Veterinárias Desidério Finamor (IPVDF) in Brazil. She is currently a doctoral candidate in the Cellular and Molecular Biology program at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Her broader research investigates the gut microbiota, virome, and metagenomics of non-human primates—with a special focus on brown howler monkeys (Alouatta guariba), as well as Alouatta caraya, Callithrix jacchus, and Callithrix penicillata—under a One Health perspective. She joined HIOH in September 2026.
