HIOH at the Citizens‘ Festival of Unity in Schwerin
From October 2nd – 4th, 2024, HIOH presented itself amidst all other research institutions in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, celebrating the Day of German Unity. With a mobile laboratory, mini-PCR and fly trap, we made One Health research not just visible, but a hands-on experience.
What are zoonotic diseases? Where does antibiotic resistance come from? And how do you conduct research in a tropical rainforest? We were happy to engage in lively exchange with our visitors and answer all their questions. Thank you all for these stimulating discussions.
Bettina Martin, Minister of Science, Culture, Federal and European Affairs in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, was also very interested in our work on pandemic prevention and enthusiastically set to work with a pipette.
