University Medicine Greifswald (UMG) is a full-service academic medical center and a central partner of the University of Greifswald, integrating patient care, research and medical education. Over the past decades, UMG has developed a distinctive research profile by combining population-based epidemiology with state-of-the-art molecular medicine. The Study of Health in Pomerania (SHIP), initiated in 1997, is one of the most comprehensive longitudinal cohort studies worldwide.

UMG is a partner of the German Center for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK) and the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE). Infection and inflammation, including zoonoses and antimicrobial resistance, are key focus areas.
