University Medicine Greifswald

University Medicine Greifswald (UMG) is a full-service academic medical center and a central partner of the University of Greifswald, integrating patient care, research and medical education. Over the past decades, UMG has developed a distinctive research profile by combining population-based epidemiology with state-of-the-art molecular medicine. The Study of Health in Pomerania (SHIP), initiated in 1997, is one of the most comprehensive longitudinal cohort studies worldwide.

UMG is a partner of the German Center for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK) and the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE). Infection and inflammation, including zoonoses and antimicrobial resistance, are key focus areas. Embedded in a strong regional context, UMG contributes to One Health research by linking human health with environmental and societal factors.
