Together with numerous institutes at the University of Greifswald and partners from the region, the HIOH team provided insights into its own research at the Science Day on 27 June 2026 in Greifswald.
Due to the summery temperatures, the program was moved at short notice to air-conditioned indoor venues, allowing visitors of all ages to explore the stands – which had been designed with great dedication – in a pleasant atmosphere.
At the HIOH stand, visitors could discover in a variety of ways just how closely the health of humans, animals and the environment is interlinked. Children explored the research carried out at the HIOH through pipetting stations, puzzles and an animal clue hunt. Young people and adults had the chance try out a mobile laboratory or water filtration system at the HIOH stand and learn how these methods are used at the HIOH. In his talk ‘From Animals to Humans’, Director Fabian Leendertz explained where zoonoses come from and how they spread. Interested visitors could find out everything worth knowing about the new HIOH building during a guided tour of the construction site. The program was complemented by numerous display items and images that brought the research work at the HIOH to life and facilitated engaging discussions with interested visitors.
